Abstract

Justification: The environmental crisis caused by anthropogenic factors has positioned Good Environmental Practices (GEP) as a key alternative to restoring the well-being of biodiversity. Objective: This study seeks to identify how individual behavior and location influence the adoption of daily ecological habits in Ecuador. Methodology: A quantitative, correlational, and explanatory approach was applied through a Multilevel Binomial Logistic Regression model. The analyzed data comes from the INEC Environmental Information Household Survey, consolidating a sample of 8,792 observations. Results: The findings demonstrate that participation in environmental activities, efficient water use, and ecological concern significantly increase the probability of implementing GEP. However, the Intraclass Correlation Coefficient (ICC) revealed that 32.6% of pro-environmental decisions depend on structural and territorial factors, highlighting a profound geographic disparity across the country. Conclusion: There is a strong dependency between ecological behavior and the territorial aspect. The regulations and management of each province directly impact how people manage their waste and assume their environmental responsibility. This exposes a critical gap between conceptual awareness, customs, and the population's actual actions, which are conditioned by the efficiency of local public policies.
